Free Range Scraps

 

Hi Everyone, 

How are you all? So something crazy happened. I took some time off!! Yes a whole week off work. My other half and I couldn't remember the last time we took a full week off work. Apart from the first lockdown haha. In three years!! So this last week we've been pottering around at home, relaxing, walking, gardening and just switching off. It was heavenly. 

As you know I've talked about having low Sew-jo the past year or so, the pandemic is obviously a contributing factor, but I honestly think I was just mentally exhausted. All of you self-employed peeps will know exactly what I'm talking about. Time-off is 50% relax 50% thinking of everything work related. So taking time off is so important as you need a few days just to work out how to relax again haha.

Shelby Dress

 Hi Everyone, 

So I want to share with you my new favourite dress. It's the Shelby Dress by True Bias and I have no idea why it's taken me so long to make one. It's always been on my list but I think I just bypassed it so many times when I couldn't decide on the fabric. BUT then I got this Viscose Blend Linen in the shop and totally fell in love with it. I even included this combination on my Summer Wardrobe Inspiration post. Sadly this fabric is all sold out because you all loved it too! Haha. But I do have an alternative which you can buy HERE.  

I am totally in love with the shape and style and I just think it suits my body shape. I made the short, dress style Shelby and I know I want to make another one. But maybe I'll try a romper next as I think that would be super cute for summer. It comes in a full length style as well for both romper and dress, so don't worry if you're not a fan of the mini style.

I love how the dress is made up of shaped panels which are sewn together to create the curves. It's just so flattering.

The Marlo Cardigan

Hi Everyone, 

I wanted to share my two Marlo Cardigans with you all. I've been wearing them so much lately. If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen me wearing them both a lot. The Pattern is by True Bias. It's only pdf at the moment but you can buy it HERE.

So the first one I made was this Grey Sweatshirt Cropped version. The Sweat-shirting was actually from my stash but I bought some for the shop as a few people wanted to make a similar version (Shop HERE). I teamed it with our ribbed grey ribbing - that's a mouthful - which worked so well (Shop Ribbing HERE). And I had the grey buttons in my stash too WIN WIN! So for me, a true stash buster here.

Ice Lolly Hallon Dress

Hi Everyone, 

So I wanted to share my latest creation with you all. I finally finished my Hallon Dress. It's a beautiful pattern by Paradise Patterns. I saw a fabulous block colour dress on instagram a year or so ago of a beachy dress which I later found out was from Pitusa. I've always dreamed about creating a stripey, block 'ice lolly' dress and thought I could have a play with this pattern.

BILLIE BLUE

 

Hey Everyone, 

I really don't want you to get sick of me talking about how much I love this dress, but I couldn't not share it here on the blog as well. You may have also already seen it in my last Sew & Tell Video on my Youtube Channel. Sorry about that. But it's just such a great pattern and it's the perfect make for all of us at the moment, spending more time at home, but still wanting to look stylish.

Mollie Makes Yoga Bag

Hi Everyone, 

I wanted to share with you another career highlight in my life. You may remember me being so excited about having a project in Mollie Makes magazine, well I got another one! 

Honestly, Mollie Makes has been in my crafty life since they first launched. I have every issue of the publication- can you believe!? It has always been a dream to be featured in the magazine, and to have had the opportunity to work with them is just so incredible. 

I made a yoga bag in Issue 126 and if you grab the issue, you can follow my tutorial to make your own! It was so much fun to make and I love the colours, very spring-like and fresh, which is just what we need right now. 

There are so many incredible projects in the issue and I have a long list of things I want to make now. And if you've never gotten your hands on this magazine, I urge you to get a copy. 

Sorry for the quick update but I just had to share! I hope you're all well and coping ok in lockdown (if you're reading from the UK that is). It's nice that it's February and we have a short month to get through until the joy of Spring starts creeping in (maybe even some sunshine!!). YAY!

Dots, Spots and eating lots!

Hi Everyone, 

Happy New Year to you all! Did you have a lovely break over Christmas? Did you get any time off? Whether you celebrated the holiday or not, I hope you got some brief relief from the joys of 2020. 

I thought I'd come on here and show you my Christmas Day outfit. It was exactly what I imagined and I'm so happy with it. And it's thanks to my Mother-in-law that I got to wear it. 

Ignore my cosy slippers, but what else would I wear on Christmas Day? I wanted a loose fit, comfy outfit and my adored Nora pattern came to mind. I think I have about 8 or 9 different Nora tops now. I drew out the pattern in my usual size, lengthening the bodice and added markers to where I wanted the 'side splits' to start. I opted for the elbow length sleeves, as I was worried anything more would drown me out with the length and style of fit.

Stash Busting Mission

 Hi Everyone, 

How are we all? I hope you're safe and well where you are. I wanted to share with you my latest make. I wanted to 'shop my stash' for this one and I won the jackpot when I found this super soft ribbed jersey in my stash. I wanted to make an extra layer for these cooler autumn days but nothing too heavy. I came up with the idea to make a Freya Top (from Tilly and the Buttons Stretch Book) in a slight bigger size, but classic me, I made a few alterations.
