Stash Busting Mission

 Hi Everyone,

How are we all? I hope you're safe and well where you are. I wanted to share with you my latest make. I wanted to 'shop my stash' for this one and I won the jackpot when I found this super soft ribbed jersey in my stash. I wanted to make an extra layer for these cooler autumn days but nothing too heavy. I came up with the idea to make a Freya Top (from Tilly and the Buttons Stretch Book) in a slight bigger size, but classic me, I made a few alterations.

So, firstly, to get the slightly looser fit, I actually used my usual size pattern pieces, but used a smaller seam allowance instead. I wanted a more cosy neckband, so I doubled the original turtle neck to make it deeper. Lastly, I only had a metre of jersey so the sleeves came out a bit shorter than I wanted, so using every last scrap I created these thick double cuffs to make it long sleeved. I'm so happy with how this turned out. Sadly this particular fabric is out of stock now, as I bought it years ago. BUT Minerva Crafts do have a few options for Ribbed Jerseys which you can see HERE (contains affiliate link). Alternatively, I have some gorgeous Ribbed Jersey in the shop which I'm giving all the readers of this post an exclusive 10% off of (and it's already an absolute bargain anyway). Head to the website HERE and use code BLOGREADER at the checkout. (Code ends on the 19th November 2020 whilst stock lasts).

Once it was made, I took it to a local Pumpkin Patch to take the most autumnal photos I have ever taken. I'm so happy with this top and I hope I might have encouraged you to look at your fabric stash again. You may already have the perfect fabric for your next project.
Really hoping I get some more time to make some nice things soon. So many ideas, so little time haha.

Keep safe, keep well, keep sewing. Happy Handmade everyone.
