DIY- Geometric Clay Pendants

Friday, January 27, 2017

I love Fimo Clay, it's just so easy to use. I wanted to do a DIY on how to make some really simple geometric pendants. They make great gifts for your friends, and they're not difficult to make at all.

You'll need:

  • Fimo Clay in your chosen colours
  • Craft Knife
  • Small rolling pin
  • Card
  • Toothpick
  • Jewellery chain and joining rings.
  • Small pliers

Firstly  break a small bit of clay off and knead it in your hands to warm it. Roll it into a ball and press it flat. Use a rolling pin to flatten it neatly to about 2-3mm thick.

Use your card to draw out a geometric shape. I did a large and small semi circle. Use this as a stencil to cut out your shapes with a craft knife.

Use a tooth pick to create the holes where you'd like the rings and chain to go.

I blended my two clay colours to create this marble effect. Experiment with your coloured clay.

Bake to the manufacturers instructions. Leave to cool then add your chain!

A few tips:
  • Make sure the surface you're working on is clean- I picked up tiny specs of dust on my white clay!
  • Don't pick your pendants up with your fingers, move them around with a flat knife, or similar, so you don't change their shape.
  • Use a flat knife on any straight edges just before baking so they're definitely neat and straight.

It's so quick and easy - why not make a few for all your friends. You could also use ribbon or leather cord instead of a chain too.

If you have a go, make sure you tag me in your pictures on social media. I'd love to see them.

Happy Handmade!
