Hi Everyone,
It's me again for another DIY! It was recently my friend's lovely wedding and I was so excited to see two of my favourite people tie the knot. Then I panicked- "What am I going to wear!?!".
I trawled the internet for the perfect outfit- and all the ones I liked I couldn't afford. So I thought I'd make my own! I did start to panic when choosing fabrics however, as I hadn't made any clothes for myself in a very long time.
I decided on a little cropped top, with a tulip button up back and little cap sleeves. Then for the bottom a layered tulle circle skirt.
For the cropped top I drafted a pattern from a t-shirt I liked the fit of. Then shortened the front and cut the back into semi circles. I used the lovely Lisa Comfort's (From 'Sew over it') video
HERE to help with the back. Lisa's YouTube channel is fabulous and I think you should all subscribe to her channel!
Sadly I made too much of a cross over the the back so I had to place my buttons slightly to one side so they were supported by the facing. So that's the only huge mistake I made this time. Also I should have maybe practiced the top on scrap fabric first.
I chose this cute Balloon fabric from Lewis and Irene.
For the circle skirt I found this easy tutorial from
Cotton and Curls. Liz has a wonderful blog where she makes anything and everything. Her blog is such a good resource for how-tos. The skirt was my favourite part to make, it's so easy, so fun and so effective! I'll be wearing this a lot I hope.
I used white netting layers over a baby pink lining to make it really washed out. I also used white elastic for the waist but I should have found a pale pink I think. I really love this skirt though.
I really hope you like my little outfit and it gives you inspiration for your own! Make sure you check out the other blogs and videos. And let me know what you think!
Happy Handmade!
My shoes were from New Look. And a huge thank you to my sister and brother for helping me with the pictures! :)
