NYE Outfit!

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year! I hope you're all well and had a lovely festive break. I wanted to share with you my New Years Eve outfit. Well, just the trousers actually.

I bought this sequin fabric from the New Craft House after I went to their Studio 54 party! It was the fabric they had on the walls and they sold it at such a good price, I knew I had to have it. It's two tone, so one way they brush silver, the other way they're turquoise. I made the Holly Trouser pattern from By Hand London, I'm so happy with them!

I modified the pattern by adding a seam down the front of the trousers so I can have a split at the bottom. I forgot how difficult sewing with sequins is; not only do they make a huge mess, but I snapped a few needles in the process. I've sewn more with mini sequins, but the large ones are trickier.
I was really naughty and I didn't pick the sequins out the seam allowance, but I did trim them down loads though.

I did line them with some plain black cotton I had in my stash, I lined them to the knee so they're more comfortable to wear. I also added pockets, which I shouldn't have done, they look great but were so tricky to do. The inner pocket is in cotton to try and make it a little less bulky, but they're still quite thick, plus adding the invisible zipper was a nightmare. I'm not selling this am I?

Overall though, despite how long they took to make and the amount of hoovering I had to do, I was really happy with how they turned out, and my goodness I got loads of compliments whilst I was out partying (although that might have just been the drink talking).

I hope you like them! If you have any questions, comment below!

Happy Handmade!
